Bulleen Kids Multicultural Photos - Melbourne photographer

May 22, 2011

How much fun was this photo session – seriously, 6 kids from different cultures in my studio for a magazine and brochure photography shoot.

Now 6 children, toddlers aged 2yrs, pre schoolers and school kids up to  7yrs, it could have been a little (ahem) crazy right? Nope, not at all – these kids were AMAZING!!! Seriously absolutely AMAZING – I had a ball.

So if you are in the Bulleen area… Friday 7th and Saturday 8th July from 10-5pm is multicultural week at Bulleen Plaza. Keep a look out for more information on their site….http://bulleenplaza.com.au/

Family Panarama Photos NEW - Melbourne Family photography

April 2, 2011

Ok – here is a sneak peek of what is coming very soon! Panoramic composite studio family shots.

You know what’s beaut about them? They are individual photos put together to form one photo. So, when you have a couple of very young children that wont cooperate for a typical family photo, here’s the answer.

Or what about a multi generation photo….you know how difficult it can be to find a day and time that the ENTIRE family can come along. Not a problem now, each family can come individually. You choose your favourite individual photo, and we’ll cleverly put them together into a panoramic family print.

And because it’s in studio, you wont be at the mercy of Melbourne’s unpredictable weather.

And seriously – how GORGEOUS is your family going to look on your wall!

Composites can be a great way to get a whole group together. My favorite part is that you can get the very best shot of each person instead of having to settle on one where some people look great and others look just so-so.

James Hampton Music CD shoot – Melbourne portrait photographer

January 7, 2011

My cousin James Hampton is a talented songwriter and performer. He is releasing his upcoming CD shortly and this shoot was for  the CD art. James’ first CD “Land or Sea” was reviewed by the Herald Sun with glowing reports!

As Reviewed in the Sunday Herald Sun

**** (4/5 stars)
IT’s almost impossible to believe this debut album was penned, arranged and performed by local Melbourne musician James Hampton.

Harder still to believe is the fact that he has not been spotted earlier, for this 10-track debut takes the listener through a fantastic musical journey of jazz, funk, pop and soul, gloriously stamped with an amazing, careless, yet intelligent sound, that can only be described as James Hampton.

Comparisons can be made, and they will _ hints of Harry Connick Jr, Joe Jackson, Billy Joel, Elton John and Ben Folds can at varying times be heard across any number of tracks _ but Hampton’s croon retains the freshness of youth that is his and his alone.

After a spoken opening track, the young Box Hill Tafe music graduate kicks in with the big-band styled All My Money’s Gone, setting a fast paced, feel-good vibe. But he also breaks the components of the big band for some small-unit-features, that showcase his impressive piano ability.

Light hearted tales are intertwined with deeper heartfelt ballads, ‘Just Be Julia’ sings with young lovers angst while ‘When Tomorrow Comes’ is comparable to Brian Wilson’s timeless classic ‘I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times’ in its themes of self-doubt and adolescent insecurity.

Hampton says he is working on his next album, which is exciting because there is no reason he shouldn’t explode. For now, it is a young man playing from the heart , with his upbringing and his roots deeply entrenched through the album. If you want something a little different, get it.

Shannon Deery
Sun Herald Sunday

So back to the shoot……And how much fun it was. James is very creative and comes up with some fun and whacky ideas. His first CD he hired a reptile lady to bring some terrapins down to St Kilda beach HERE and this time he hired a piano mover to move a piano onto his front lawn. So while James played the keys on the front lawn in suburban Melbourne, the kids sat on the lawn playing and his Mum watered the garden. Typical Melburnian family right? Except for that pianist on the front lawn lol! The locals on their morning walks with their dogs certainly looked as us strangely – especially as I had my on location studio lights all set up on the lawn too!

So here are a few from the shoot.

November 26, 2010

Some BIG news!! I’m so excited to announce this….

We just signed the lease and picked up the key for our NEW STUDIO in Rosanna (near Ivanhoe)!!!It needs a fit out, and some TLC to make it ‘Ours’, but we have it and we’re really excited! We’re rolling up our sleeves to make it special for you. I have a vision of how it will be – light and airy, comfortable and welcoming. The space and location are great – it just needs a good paint job, some nice flooring and some general reno’s.

So 2011 sees Amanda’s Photography take a new step. All studio sessions will be done in the Rosanna studio, and outdoor sessions can be done in the beautiful Rosanna Parklands just down the road, or at my Greensborough locations. Below is me today (taken by hubby) at the entrance.
